Winner of the Portrait of Britain Award in 2017, 2018 and 2019, internationally-published portrait photographer Rory Lewis will hold his first online workshops in April and May 2020.

The workshops have been designed to provide delegates with the skills to develop and improve their portrait photography techniques. Rory will talk about key sittings from his portfolio, including Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, and many others, explaining set-up, lighting, direction and the inspiration behind his work. Rory will also discuss marketing, projects and how to sell oneself as a photographer. Each session will be followed by a detailed Q&A. The workshops cater for all photographers from beginners to semi-professional level.

The first workshop – Portrait Photography is on the 18th of April,

Learn more in one workshop than months of reading about photographic technique. Delegates will walk away from this online course with the skills to develop and improve their portrait photography techniques. From Beginners to Intermediate Photographers, these sessions cater for the amateur and semi professional.

Rory will talk about portraiture, key sittings from his portfolio, including Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen and others. Explaining technique, lighting, direction and the inspiration behind his work. Rory will also talk about Marketing, Projects and How to Sell Yourself as a Photographer. The session will be followed by Q&A.

The second workshop – Online Photography Marketing Workshop is on Thursday 30th April 2020,

 Learn more in one day than months of reading about Marketing . In this class, you’ll learn how to generate more site traffic and prospective customers through easy-to-implement digital marketing techniques. Rory will show you how a combination of social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, blogging) and search engine optimisation (SEO) can attract leads to your site. He also illustrate how to build a marketable portfolio that impresses potential clients once they arrive on your page. You’ll also learn how to determine if your marketing plan is working, and how to fix it if it’s not.

 Delegates will walk away from this course with the skills to develop and improve your marketing & selling techniques. This course is great for both beginning photographers and established studios. The basic strategies provide a good fundamentals refresher for established studios, and the more advanced information gives less-established photographers a roadmap for the future. There will be advice for ANY genre of photography.

About Rory Lewis

Rory Lewis is a dedicated portrait photographer who has spent over a decade capturing many of the world’s most recognised faces. Sitters have included the likes of Dame Judi Dench, William Shatner, David Cameron, Sir Derek Jacobi, Iain Glen and Natalie Dormer. Rory’s images have been exhibited on both sides of the Atlantic, and several of his iconic portraits have been acquired by the National Portrait Gallery in London. Rory has also lectured for the National Portrait Gallery in London and the V&A Musuem. His recent project, ‘Soldiery’, which documented the British Army of the 21st Century, was completed over a two year period and has been hailed as a national success story, named by the BBC as ‘The changing face of the British Army’.

Rory divides his time between London and Los Angeles, working with a wide variety of clients. In addition to his projects and private portraits, his photography has been commissioned by Pepsi, Universal, the British Army, The Times, The Guardian and Cancer Research UK, among others. Rory draws immense inspiration from the masters of art including Hans Holbein the Younger, Titian, Caravaggio and Jusepe de Ribera.
