Congratulations to the fourth winner of our Photo of the week competition, Rajesh Therthala Veedu, Motion category with this photo of flamingoes taking off.  He wins a years subscription to Professional Photo Digital and the Samsung 128GB Micro SDXC Pro Endurance Card.

This photo was taken on a boat ride from Thane creek flamingo sanctuary, Mumbai. Every year large number of flamingoes migrate to these wetlands. Since these wetlands are not easily accessible the government arrange boat rides. The boat ride is 45 minutes to 1 hour and when flamingoes are spotted; the boat stops a little away for a short while so as not to disturb the birds and then we can watch them and take pictures. I was carrying my Nikon D 3400 camera and two lenses (18-55 mm and 70-300 mm lens). It was my first experience on taking photos while on a boat, I was shooting handheld and as soon as the people spotted the birds they became excited and started moving around, which was a bit difficult! After passing 3-4 spots we started seeing the  flamingoes take off and it was really beautiful sight. I managed to take few good pictures though!
